New Year’s Resolutions: It’s Okay to Fail
As much as some people hate new year’s resolutions, I happen to love them, and it is more because of what they stand for than anything else. A new year’s resolution is an individual’s way of recognizing there is something within them that they could improve upon and then taking the first steps to make those changes. Trouble with new year’s resolutions comes after those first steps when individuals realize the subsequent steps are going to be difficult, and instead of taking those steps with confidence, they fall flat on their faces. Then, they do the worst thing possible when taking on a new challenge: they give up! Because their journey towards achieving that new year’s resolution was not perfect, they give up. If the goal at the end of the hard work was big enough for you to turn it into a new year’s resolution that you shared with all your family in friends, then it is also big enough to trip you up and make you struggle a time or to along the way. The best thing you can do is learn from the moments where you fell; the worst thing you can do is fail to take another step forward.
