Let me start by saying that I am conflicted on this issue anyway, and your post made it fresh in my mind once again with a good example. I really don’t know how much the justice system owes to the family members of murder victims. Even now I cannot say that I know how to answer that question.
When I wrote my letter to the parole board per your prompt, I asked them to be absolutely sure about the decision they were making before they released that guy, and that I trust them to do the right thing, and that everyone else is counting on them to make the right decision. Sometimes I think it helps to place that burden of absolute trust on someone to do the right thing instead of telling them you don’t trust them at all. I guess I hope it will force them to rise to the challenge.
Also, I guess it is a good time to add that I have an unpopular opinion on what to do with people who intentionally, violently, viciously murder other people. I hate to say that they don’t deserve their own life after taking the lives of others, but there it is, I suppose.
Your argument is compelling, and even if I am still conflicted about the whole issue, I know where you stand and I understand your perspective as to why this man needs to stay behind bars and that justice has not yet been served.

Thank you ❤
