I am also no whiz at math, or so I believe…
But then one day someone pointed out the advanced nature of the calculations I use to do my job as the director of a competitive swim team. Apparently it is no small thing to figure out how fast a person is and how fast they need to be training to become as fast as they wish to be that strikes a perfect balance between “sufficiently challenging to cause growth” and the kind of challenging that just crushes people…
I think the things we learn in those classes we thought were unimportant actually turn up in our lives more often than we realize, and the reason it was important for us to learn those things is so that we can engage ourselves in our passions with all the tools we need to be successful and no more struggle than necessary.
When it comes to learning, I think it all comes full circle; all of it is important in building who we are. That’s why broad and ongoing education is essential.
