Every human innovation has at some point presented as many issues as it solved, so I am not sure we ever have to worry about becoming obsolete if the pattern continues.
Also, why is it that the greatest authors of all time have written more dystopian novels than stories of the perfect world? Maybe it is because conflict sells better than bliss. But perhaps it is because we have known for centuries that a utopia in this world is not possible.
