A Rooster, a Crowbar, and an Army of Robot Alarm Clocks
Imagine a legion of robot alarm clocks scampering about the floor in the morning making you chase them in pursuit of silence. By the time you caught them all you would be wide awake and ready to start the day. Your heart would be beating so fast you would not be able to fall asleep again if you tried. Does this seem extreme? We should just wake up when a normal alarm goes off and be done with it, right? It used to be that simple for me but nowadays I am a slave to the snooze button and I cannot for the life of me get out of bed.
When I get up in the morning I want to feel refreshed and full of energy and confidence in equal measure — but I have not felt that way in a long, long time.
Instead I feel sore, sad, apprehensive, and already exhausted by the things I know I must accomplish before I even walk out the door. No wonder I hit the snooze button with less and less regard for the consequences. My family would not be amused with an army of alarm clock robots, however, and neither would yours, so for the both of us another solution must be found.
I won’t belittle you by telling you to go to bed earlier because, like me, I am sure…
